Season Of Giving

The X1023 Season Of Giving is your chance to support local charities this holiday season.

Lower Cape Outreach Council (LCOC)

LCOC supports families on the Lower and Outer Cape throughout the year, and currently, they are in the midst of their Gifts of Hope Campaign.  This fundraiser supports their nine emergency food pantries, financial assistance program, and Katy’s Korner, a free clothing resource.  LCOC also assisted 547 households with their Thanksgiving meals and is hosting Santa Stop, a holiday toy distribution.  We hope you will consider supporting their work with a donation. The Soup Kitchen In Provincetown (SKIP)

Established in 1992, the Soup Kitchen In Provincetown (SKIP) provides a hot, nourishing lunch to Outer Cape Cod residents, November through April, Monday through Friday.  Lunch is served from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on weekdays at the Provincetown United Methodist Church, 20 Shank Painter Road, Provincetown. SKIP serves over 150 meals a day, over 18,000 meals each season, to residents who are either in need or seek community during the long wintertime months. The lack of proper nutrition is a serious problem for many in this area, affecting both seniors on fixed incomes and the workers facing seasonal unemployment caused by the tourist economy. The warm, sociable atmosphere of the dining room can also be as nourishing as the meal itself. With your help, SKIP weathered several challenges, most recently those posed by the COVID pandemic and inflation-related increases in food and operational costs. Still, we’re committed to expanding services to those neighbors whose nutritional and other needs become more pronounced during the fall and winter months. Needed financial support for SKIP not only allows us to combat food insecurity on the Outer Cape but to provide welcoming daily refuge for those fighting isolation during the region’s long off-season.
